Mezzrow Gig with Andrea Domenici and Joe Peri
Wednesday Feb 9th was a real crazy NYC day for a number of reasons that I won’t list here.
After teaching the whole afternoon to four great, but very energetic young students, I had the pleasure to play a really amazing concert with Andrea Domenici and Joe Peri at Mezzrow Jazz Club. This club is my favorite listening room in New York, opened by Spike Wilner September 3rd 2014 (correct me if I’m wrong).
Andrea Domenici is really making his way in the city, performing every night and always creating opportunities to play. He is continuously adding new songs to his already endless repertoire and he’s developing his musical skills in the path paved by Tommy Flanagan, Barry Harris and Kenny Barron.
I feel really lucky to have played this gig with a great drummer and a generous person like Joe Peri, with whom I already played, but definitely not enough. What I really like about Joe is that he carries his calmness and his personality into his playing, making the musician feel very comfortable to take any direction.
I really hope to play more music with these two guys.
Thank you Andrea and Joe for playing so beautifully.
