Session with W.Escoffery and L.Santaniello/ Ron Carter Golden Striker
I have to say that this Thursday October 7 2021 was one of the most fun days I could have in New York City,
I had an amazing session in Harlem with two great musicians, Luca Santaniello, a great drummer from Italy that is been living in NYC for more than 20 years and Wayne Escoffery, a tenor saxophonist that I used to listen as a teenager on the Tom Harrell albums “Prana Dance” and “Roman Nights”.
We played a bunch of tunes like The song is you, Straight Street by John Coltrane, Ask Me Know by Thelonius Monk and this beautiful song by contemporary drummer Billy Drummond called “Dubai” with a tricky form in 7/4 and 6/4.
After the session I went back to Brooklyn took a shower and changed my clothes to go see Ron Carter’s Golden Striker Trio with Donald Vega on piano and Russell Malone on guitar. Man that for me was the real come back to New York life, I was so happy to see my teacher playing live again at Birdland, so many people came and I saw some other great bass players at the show. Also I brought my girlfriend to hear and meet Mr.Carter for the first time.Only New York City can give you these emotions on a regular basis.
I feel Blessed.
